Our Story

The idea for Handpicked Homes came from my own experience looking for a flat in Delhi.

In my first year of college, I started looking at places in Satya Niketan. The rents seemed high for what was on offer, and the rooms were cramped, poorly ventilated and, frankly, not worth the money. I eventually decided to stay at home and commute around an hour and a half each way rather than move into a place I wasn't happy with.

At the time, I assumed the rest of South Delhi would be even more expensive, so I didn't really look beyond the usual student areas.

It was only later, when I started looking for flats with my family, that I realised things weren't quite that simple. Even in some of South Delhi's more expensive neighbourhoods, sharing a decent flat could make more financial sense than renting a small room in a student area. A spacious, well-ventilated flat shared between a few people could offer a much better living environment without necessarily costing each person more.

That got us thinking. Maybe the problem wasn't that decent housing was out of reach. Maybe it was that finding it was harder than it needed to be.

That's why we're building Handpicked Homes, to help students and young professionals find better places to live, without having to settle for less just because they're new to the city.
